Is Affiliate Marketing Right For Me? That's a Question That Gets Asked A Lot

Have you been thinking about starting an online business as an affiliate marketer and wondering if it's right for you? Many people earn a good full-time living simply by becoming what's known as a super affiliate. This article isn't about being a super affiliate, but will help you decide if you want to get into affiliate marketing and then decide if you want to become a super affiliate once you've seen some success. I should note that super affiliates do this business as a full time business venture. However, many of them start off on a part time basis and build their income before quitting their full time job. For now, let's discover if affiliate marketing is right for you.

Ask yourself these questions:
1. Do you purchase a lot of digital or physical products for your own personal use?
2. Do you or would you recommend those products without getting paid to do so?
3. Can you write decent product reviews?
4. Are you willing to write product reviews?
5. Are you willing to write blog and article content to grow traffic and build your business?
6. Are you financially able to outsource the work if you aren't willing to do it?

These are important questions to ask yourself. Building a business as an affiliate marketer can take time. One of the key things to being a good affiliate is having people trust you and your recommendations. If you simply want to set up an affiliate site and not be seen, so to speak, it can be even harder to build an affiliate business. If you already have a following and many people already like you, transitioning into an affiliate business may be relatively easy for you.

Let's get to those questions:

Do you purchase digital or physical products? The reason this question is important is because it's hard to recommend and sell something that you don't have a personal interest in. People can generally tell if you have a personal attachment to the product or if you're simply trying to make sales.

Also, when you've used a product personally, you'll find it much easier to write about and recommend. Let's say there's an affiliate program that sells horses. I don't think one really exists, but this is a big example. It offers a 50% commission for every horse you sell. This could be big money for you. However, you hate horses. How well do you think you could sell a horse---to a horse lover---when you hate horses? They will see right through you. Always have some kind of personal knowledge of a product or make sure it's something on your own wish list.

What about making recommendations for free? Staying with our horse example, let's say you actually love horses and want to find them good homes. It's likely that you would try and sell these horses without making any money at it. People will know that you genuinely care about the horses and finding them good homes and would be more likely to buy on your recommendation.

Writing product reviews. These do not have to be grand or absolutely perfect, but they do need to be decently written and make sense. If you can write good product reviews, add a little of your own enthusiasm and personality into them, it's likely you will get people to buy through your links. Plus, the more you write them, the better you'll get at writing them. They do need to be honest. If there's something you don't like about the product, let the readers know. They will appreciate your honesty and they may not even be concerned with the one thing you didn't like.

Are you willing to write product reviews? This is actually a key component to being a good affiliate marketer. You need to write reviews to promote products. If you aren't willing to do this or can't afford to pay someone to write reviews for you, then affiliate marketing may not be for you. Unless you can find another way to promote products, you will have to do some writing.

Being an affiliate marketing can be one of the easiest and fun ways to start earning a living online. But remember, it does take time and commitment. You can start part-time, but unless you're willing to put in the work and grow it into a full time business, you may want to consider another avenue.

Take that file and click Audience then Create Audience and then choose Custom Audience.  Now click Customer List and then upload your email list. That’s it – it’s that simple. Remember you can also upload a phone number list to target through your Facebook ads.

#2 Test Different Bid Strategies

Bid strategies influence just how successful your Facebook ads will be. There are 3 key categories for bidding:
1. Cost per thousand impressions
2. Cost per click
3. Conversion optimizer
You need to test various bidding methods to learn which will reduce your cost per conversion while getting the volume you need. Start with CPC. To set up your bidding method go to Ad Set Level (Under Optimization & Pricing) and choose bid type. When you use the conversion optimizer or bid per click you will determine what your maximum cost per click is going to be or your target cost per acquisition. You can also let Facebook select a value for you but this is riskier. Then set the pricing per ad.

#3 Schedule Your Ads

Facebook lets you segment your ads by hours and days, if you choose lifetime budget. It isn’t available with daily budget. This is why businesses seldom use this feature. Lifetime budget is the total budget of your ad set and it does not have a daily limit. If there is no established performance pattern for the campaign that already has a proven track record this is not a setting you want to play with. If you want to set up day/hour parting go to Budget and Schedule under Ad Set, then choose scheduling for your ad.

#4 Use Instagram to Generate Interest

Instagram has gotten a great deal of attention and is said to have 15x the engagement that Facebook has. It’s also one of the fastest growing mobile apps. You can influence interaction on multiple channels by tweeting your Instagram links to your photos. The results can be very impressive.

Should You Set Goals or Intentions
You may not think there is much difference between a goal and an intention, but there is. You should actually  set goals and also set daily intentions. Let's talk about some of the differences and why you should use them.

Goals
Wise Man
Goals are things you want to accomplish by a due date. Most people set short term goals, mid-range goals and long term goals.
Short term goals can be weekly or monthly and some are even set as three to five month goals. Mid-range goals are those you set from six months or a year up to about three years. Long term goals are generally those over five years.
Once you have your goals established, you would then create a plan to reach them. You can break them down into monthly tasks, weekly tasks and daily tasks. Also, reading them often will help you stay focused on reaching them and keep you motivated to keep working on them.

Intentions
Intentions are more in the here and now. You can set daily intentions every morning when you get up to help set up the day ahead. Unlike goals, intentions are more of how you want the day to go, how you want to feel about it. An intention would be, "Today I will have a great day. I will work steady and be very productive."
It sounds a lot like an affirmation in the fact that it also prepares your mind for the day ahead and the work ahead. It is, in effect, getting your mindset ready for productivity or being in a good mood or even helping you establish a success mindset.

Setting intentions can also help you work on and overcome a negative mindset. If you're always thinking negative or being negative, setting a daily intention to be more positive can help you get your mind ready for a more positive day. It can also help you become more aware when you are being negative. If you set your intention in the morning, it can possibly give you a little nudge later on when you start to feel aggravated at something.

Intentions can help you achieve your goals by focusing on daily results. If you don't take the time each day to set your intentions for the day, you could be playing with chance. In a sense, daily intentions help you guide the outcome of your own day. This is not a perfect or exact science, but many people claim to have better days if they set intentions. On the days they skip setting intentions, many things tend to go haywire or out of their control.

Six Things Needed for New Entrepreneurs

Several people that I know have made the statement that they would like to open their own business. This is a growing trend in our economy. People are opening business to become their own boss. Baby boomers are retiring and trying out new careers by opening small enterprises. To open a business, a person must realize that there is a lot of work and sacrifice to be given. Even when doing this, the odds are against you but the ride is one of the most fulfilling things that you will do. I will provide six things needed to make starting your own business easier.

Passion is Essential

I have heard that to open your business you should do something that you are passionate about. I believe that person will not really understand this until he starts the process of starting his business. If you are doing something that you are passionate about and truly believe in it, it will help you through the rough times like people criticizing your idea, being turned down for loans, the frustration of finding customers and dealing with all the things that will be thrown at you. You have to be so enthralled with your business that you are saying things like “I cannot believe people are actually paying me to do this.” You have to have the fire to wake up every morning and can’t wait to start day.
If you start your business just to make money, you will have less chance of succeeding. The first big obstacle to be placed in front of you could break your spirit and some people will just pack up and quit. If you strongly believe that you have a great product or service and give excellent service, the money will follow.

Risk Takers are needed

An entrepreneur has not to be risk adverse. Opening a business is one of the riskiest things that a person will undertake. Everything is dependant on him to find customer, pay the bills and deal with the inventory and all problems. It is definitely easier to find a job and receive your paycheck every two weeks. I see these drones every day with no passion in their life. If you want to get the blood flowing, open your business and I guarantee you that you will have a lot less boring days. You will feel more alive and have a greater sense of accomplishment when you succeed.
With risk comes the possibility of great rewards. If you are a salaried employee, you can only make your base salary and maybe a bonus if you are lucky. As an entrepreneur, the ceiling is unlimited. The more money that your business makes the greater percentage will be returned to you as you have taken the greater risk. You should not be afraid of taking risk. For example, a guy at a bar sees a female that he is interested in. He is afraid to take the risk of approaching her because he is shy or afraid of rejection. What is the worst that can happen to him? She does not want to speak with him. If this happens, he is still alive and he is at the same position as when he started. But one thing that he gains is the experience of trying something new. He can now take this experience and apply it. By doing this, things will get easier and he will be less risk adverse. So go out there and try something new.

Skills are needed

Things are a lot easier if you have experience in the industry that you want to open your business in. I would love to open a restaurant but I have never worked in a restaurant. I have not taken any formal training in the restaurant industries. I could still open the restaurant but the cards will definitely be stacked up against me. My background is in computer and business. I have worked in the industry and most of my schooling has been in computer science and business. This is why I entered into consulting as I feel more confident in my skills that I can provide an excellent service to my clients. I have already learned my mistakes on somebody else dime. I know that I will still make mistakes but the major ones have been learned already in a safer environment.
Remember that you have to be more that just a technicians. If you only perform the technical skills of your product or service, you have only bought yourself a job. Your goal should be to open a business and grow it so that if you leave the business will still be there. If this happens, you have achieved the best situation possible. You can leave but still receive the profits from your business. This could take some years but you have to persistent and have to set out specific goals.

Life Learning is good to Have

An unquenchable thirst for learning will definitely help with your challenge of starting your business. You will need to be able to learn things quickly and properly. You should always be on the lookout on how to do things better and more economical. You should always strive to be more successful as you never know who will overtake you. This is done by reading and talking with people in and outside of your industries. You should be willing to try to new things. This quality should be emphasized throughout your enterprise. One goal for everybody should be to try to make every aspect of the business better.

Good Employees Wanted

Your employees will be the life blood of your enterprise. Businesses are always stating that their employees are their most important resource. I find this hard to believe with all the downsizing that occurs when the first sign of trouble appears. Also, managers are always complaining that motivating people is hard. To have great employees, always be truthful with them. There is no problem with telling the truth that you cannot promise them a job for life but that you will promise them a fulfilling workplace with great opportunities to learn. As a small or medium enterprise, this is sometimes the only promise that you can provide. On the motivation factor, find employees that are self motivated. If you find these people, your job will be so much easier. You will not have to motivate them and can place your effort on things that are more productive. How do you find these people? Ask some pertinent questions on their background. Find out if they volunteer for non-profit organizations or they have completed a college degree. These things show that they are motivated to complete a goal set out in front of them. Once you find these motivated people, provide them a specific goal like being number one in your city and then get out of their way. You will only have to supervise from an arm length and correct any unwanted behavior when needed.

Basic Accounting Skills will Keep You Sane

The entrepreneur should invest some time in learning basic accounting. I am not saying that you should become a certified accountant. You should know the difference between an AR account and the COGS account. By knowing this, you will be able to take the blood pressure of your business by looking at your Income Statement and the Balance Sheet. You will be able to see where there are issues and will be able to remedy them before it is too late. You would never hire a carpenter who did not know how to read a building plan or measurements. Being an entrepreneur without accounting skills is like our unwanted carpenter who is illiterate when building something. You will not know if somebody is cheating you which can happen. You will be better prepared to accept a big project when it comes as you will know if your cash flow is fine or not. By having this skill, your life will be less stressful as you will have the confidence to speak with your accountant in the same language.
Opening a business with be one of the most stressful and exciting time in your life. It is not for everyone. Lots of people are discouraged by all the hard work needed to just open your doors. But if you have the deep desire that you know that you can provide something that people will want, there should be nothing stopping you from achieving your goals. It will be the most fulfilling journey that you will take, I guarantee it.

Hi Jon and Debbie Lake here and we were exactly like you 9 years ago. Thankfully for us, we had the decision made for us when we were both laid off within 9 months of each other completely out of the blue. Use a hashtag that’s both easy to remember and easy to spell. Make sure it’s not already being used by someone else. There is a proverb that goes, “A bad workman always quarrels with his tools.” Why he does that is anyone’s guess… maybe he is hot tempered or maybe his tools are argumentative. Whatever the case, tools are crucial for both cantankerous workmen and SUCCESSFUL affiliate marketers.

Have you heard of the super affiliate who uses free hosting and free autoresponders? No? You haven’t? Don’t worry… no one else has either.

Many beginner affiliate marketers try to skimp on costs and make the mistake of trying to use free alternatives rather than paid services. Any saved costs is then squandered on some get rich quick system that never delivers on its promises.

As an affiliate marketer, it is of paramount importance that you understand that this is a business and all businesses have fixed and/or variable costs. There is no getting away from this fact. You will need to spend some money in order to make much more.

Being penny wise pound foolish will not only sabotage your efforts but also impede your progress. To be a successful affiliate marketer, 3 tools are crucial. In fact, you could almost say that they are the cornerstones in your business. Without them, it is almost certain that you’ll fail.

The first tool you’ll need is your own domain name. The operative word here is “your own”… Ignore the fact that that’s 2 words. You absolutely should not build your business on someone else’s web property.

Yes, you may have to spend a few dollars buying a domain, but at least you will know that you have control over it.

Many marketers spent a lot of time and money building Squidoo pages a few years ago. All of a sudden, Squidoo, changed its policies and these marketers found that their earning dried up overnight.
You will always be subjected to the whims and fancies of some other person/s decisions if you don’t own your own domain name.  Your content may be deleted, you pages may have ads for Viagra, etc. There is a price to pay for free domains. It’s just not cash.

The second tool you’ll need is hosting. Web hosting is extremely affordable. Companies such as Hostgator, Arvixe, Dreamhost and many more provide plans that most beginner marketers can afford. There really is no excuse to not get paid hosting.

Sure… you could opt for free hosting. Just like choosing a free domain, you’ll once again have no control over your business. Free web hosting usually comes with a ton of unrelated ads that will appear on your site.

Choose paid hosting. You can also host unlimited domains on the same account for one low monthly price.

The third tool you will need is an autoresponder. You may have heard the saying, “The money is in the list” repeated ad nauseam.

Yet, many beginners try to save money by not getting one. This is understandable since an autoresponder is an ongoing cost. However, it would be myopic to not build a list because of this.
Initially, the autoresponder may be costing more than it makes. However, with time as you build your list and your subscribers swell in number from hundreds to thousands, the list will pay for itself. You’ll be able to develop a relationship with many people through email.


You can provide them with free, useful content so they start to trust you. This will reap rewards when you promote something they will find helpful. You’ll get sales and earn commissions that far exceed the cost of your autoresponder.

Besides these 3 tools, there are several other tools such as keyword tools, rank checking tools, spy tools, etc. However, these tools are nowhere near as important as those mentioned in this article.
